Qualcomm’s Wireless Reach program brings advanced wireless technologies to people and communities most in need. Interventions funded by Wireless Reach demonstrate pioneering use of mobile innovations to help drive human and economic progress in underserved areas around the world. Since 2014 the WISE program aims to improve the income of small-scale fishermen and fish processors by increasing fish catch, quality, and quantity of fish processing, aid in the safety and of fishermen, and promote sustainable fishing practices.. MANAUS performed an external assessment of Qualcomm’s WISE program for relevance, coherence, effectiveness, and impact to identify its results to date, lessons learnt, and challenges. The team combined qualitative and quantitative research elements including document review, interviews, and group discussions complemented with quantitative data already available.
